About Mrs. Hogan
I am Makinzie Hogan, senior majoring in Elementary Education-Special Education at Kansas State University, College of Education. I am originally from Derby, KS and graduated from Derby High School. I am the baby of the family with four older siblings. Along with my siblings, I have three nephews and three nieces.
I worked as a para educator at Ogden Elementary in the fifth grade classroom from May 2015 to Fall 2017. I work with a variety of students, help them understand, and assist the teacher. I worked with a veteran teacher and first year teacher throughout my time as para educator. I got married in August to my lovely husband, Tayler Hogan. Tayler is active duty in the Army and is currently in South Korea. We have two dogs and their names are Riley and Ella. They provide me the perfect comfort while he is gone. Fun fact: I was born deaf and I could not hear until I was three years old. I was delayed in my speech, writing, and reading. It was my fifth-grade teacher that made me realize I could be someone in society, but I didn't decide until my senior year that teaching was my true calling. When I told my fifth-grade teacher my decision for college, her respond was "You found your true calling. Once, you become a teacher my classroom is yours." It makes me happy that I found something that I can dedicate to and can share my passion with other teachers and students. |
